Speaker: Dr. Phung Quoc Huy, Senior Researcher of the Asia Pacific Energy Research Centre (APERC)<\/li>\n<li>14:40 \u2013 14:50 Remarks on Vietnam energy sector by Dr. Nguyen Hoang Lan, Program Director of BIE.<\/li>\n<li>14:50 \u2013 15:10 Discussion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The APEC Energy Demand and Supply Outlook 8th Edition (\u201cthe Outlook\u201d) provides projections of energy demand and supply for each of the 21 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) member economies. First published in 1998, the Outlook provides analytic support for member economies by identifying major challenges and opportunities facing the region\u2019s energy sector and assesses the impact of current energy trends and policies on the region\u2019s fuel mix, energy goals, and CO2 emissions. This edition explores two scenarios through 2050:<br \/>\nThe Reference scenario (REF): REF reflects a continuation of existing trends in technology development and deployment, and current government programs and policies.<br \/>\nThe Carbon Neutrality scenario (CN): CN illustrates a pathway with additional energy intensity and carbon intensity improvements. Sweetnam<\/strong>\u00a0is currently the Senior Vice President for APERC in Tokyo, Japan. In this position, he leads the research and analytic work of experts from APEC member economies. Previously Mr. Sweetnam served in senior positions at the U.S. National Security Council, the U.S. Department of Energy\u2019s Office of International Affairs, and the Energy Information Administration. He is interested in the coal market, clean coal technologies, energy policies, Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS), critical minerals, renewable energy certificates, and Low-carbon towns.
