Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Danh Nguyên
Established in 1965 as the Faculty of Economic Engineering at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the School of Economics and Management has undergone several important stages of development. Over the years, the School was restructured and renamed to reflect its expanding academic scope and evolving mission: from the separation into two faculties in 1978, to the merger into the Faculty of Economics and Management, then its transformation into the Institute of Economics and Management in 1995, and most recently, its official establishment as the School of Economics and Management in 2024. These milestones reflect not only institutional growth but also SEM’s continuous adaptation to the changing demands of society, industry, and higher education.
After nearly 60 years of establishment and development, the School currently has more than 90 academic and administrative staff members. Throughout its long-standing history, the School has achieved significant accomplishments in education, scientific research, technology transfer, industry engagement, and international cooperation. These achievements have strengthened the School’s position within Hanoi University of Science and Technology, as well as enhanced its reputation nationally and internationally.
SEM now has highly qualified and committed faculties and staffs. We have been trying our best to improve domestic and international research collaboration and attract more investment in educational equipment and infrastructure. Students and faculties are open to various opportunities to enhance their capabilities through exchange programs with well-known universities in France, Germany, Finland,...
SEM is equally committed to diversifying its academic portfolio and delivery models, with particular emphasis on strengthening postgraduate education at the master’s and doctoral levels. We strive to deepen the integration of education and practice through industry partnerships, executive and short-term training, and consulting services for enterprises. International cooperation also remains a key priority, enabling us to enhance institutional capacity, modernize curricula, and innovate teaching and learning methods. Our faculty and students are encouraged to broaden their global outlook through exchange and collaboration opportunities with well-regarded universities in France, Germany, Finland, Australia, and many other countries.
Our development has always been guided by a clear aspiration: to become a distinguished institution in economics and management education and research, where academic excellence is closely connected with practice and innovation. In this spirit, SEM is continuously improving the quality of its academic programs, expanding English-medium education, and integrating digital technologies, data analytics, and artificial intelligence into teaching and research. At the same time, the School promotes high-impact research, international publications, and strategic partnerships with universities, research organizations, and industry both in Vietnam and abroad.
