Academic Excellence Scholarships

For the 2024–2025 academic year, Hanoi University of Science and Technology allocates approximately VND 70 billion for the Academic Excellence Scholarship (AES) fund to recognize students with outstanding academic performance and conduct. AES is awarded on a per-semester basis and comprises three levels:v

  • Good Level (Type C): Equivalent to the tuition fee payable by the student.
  • Excellent Level (Type B): 1.2 times the Good Level scholarship.
  • Outstanding Level (Type A): 1.5 times the Good Level scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Good Level (Type C): Students must achieve academic and conduct results of “Good” or higher.
  • Excellent Level (Type B): Students must achieve academic and conduct results of “Excellent” or higher.
  • Outstanding Level (Type A): Students must achieve academic and conduct results of “Outstanding” or higher.

The AES is awarded based on students’ academic and conduct records; no application is required.

Trần Đại Nghĩa Scholarship

The Trần Đại Nghĩa Scholarship, awarded by Hanoi University of Science and Technology, is intended for students from families facing severe financial difficulties (including those classified as poor, near-poor, or with other particularly challenging economic circumstances) or students experiencing sudden accidents or unexpected risks, who demonstrate strong academic performance and personal development. 

The scholarship is awarded on a semester basis and is offered at two levels, covering 50% or 100% of tuition fees.

Sponsored Scholarships

Each year, students at Hanoi University of Science and Technology receive approximately 5–7 billion VND in sponsored scholarships from domestic and international individuals, organizations, and corporations, including Sumitomo, Toyota, Toshiba, Nitori, Samsung, LG, Lotte, Posco, Merali, EVN, Petrolimex, CC Foundation, MB Bank, PTSC, and others.

International Student Exchange Scholarships

With the goal of promoting the internationalization of the educational environment, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) not only increases the recruitment of foreign faculty and students but also actively supports HUST students in gaining opportunities to enhance professional knowledge, language skills, and other competencies at partner universities abroad. Students can apply for scholarships from the following sources:

a) Scholarships funded by HUST: 

Since 2024, HUST has implemented a scholarship program for students to study or participate in short-term internships at partner universities abroad. The scholarship fund for 2024 is 5 billion VND.

To be eligible for an exchange scholarship, students may:

  • Register for HUST’s student exchange programs or faculty/department-specific programs with foreign partner universities, or
  • Independently seek international student exchange programs at partner universities abroad and apply for an exchange scholarship through HUST.

Students must register for the exchange scholarship via the eHUST university management system.

b) Scholarships from bilateral and multilateral international cooperation:

In addition to university-funded scholarships, HUST students also receive hundreds of sponsored scholarships each year for study or internships abroad through HUST’s bilateral and multilateral international cooperation programs. see here

Homeland Connection Scholarships

To link academic training and research activities with business and production, in 2024 Hanoi University of Science and Technology will allocate VND 2 billion to award the Hometown Connection Scholarship to students and trainees in specialized engineering programs whose graduation projects/theses (ĐANT) contribute to improving the quality and efficiency of business, production, or social welfare services in the students’/trainees’ hometowns.

Scholarship amount: VND 5 million per graduation project/thesis (DANT).
